See Daniel Day Lewis' Final Performance in Phantom Thread Trailer
Three-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day Lewis is rumoured to be retiring from acting after the release of his latest collaboration with There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson, the exquisite Phantom Thread - and the first trailer has just arrived.
Day Lewis stars as the fabulously named Reynolds Woodcock, a tailor who dresses the cream of British society in post-war London, only to find his world upturned when he falls in love with a young woman named Alma (Vicky Krieps).
It’s the eighth feature by Anderson and while it represents something of a shift from his usual fare – it’s his first feature to not take place in California and has a more romantic tone than his more recent efforts - it retains his superb cinematography and attention to detail.
If this is the last we will see of Daniel Day Lewis on the big screen, here’s hoping he’ll go out on a high.
Phantom Thread gets a limited release on Christmas Day in the US (making it eligible for awards season), ahead of a UK release on 2 February, 2018.
