The Metropolitan Opera: La Forza del Destino

Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes the baton to conduct Verdi's epic narrative of ill-fated love, deadly vendettas, and familial discord. Stellar soprano Lise Davidsen takes on the role of the noble Leonora, one of the most tormented—and thrilling—heroines in the opera repertoire. Director Mariusz Treliński breathes new life into "Forza" after nearly three decades, setting the stage in a contemporary world and ingeniously using the Met's revolving turntable to symbolize the relentless march of destiny that propels the opera's chain of catastrophic events. The distinguished cast also boasts tenor Brian Jagde as Leonora's forbidden love, Don Alvaro; baritone Igor Golovatenko as her vengeful brother, Don Carlo; mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi as the enigmatic fortune teller Preziosilla; bass-baritone Patrick Carfizzi as Fra Melitone; and bass Soloman Howard, who takes on the roles of both Leonora's father and Padre Guardiano.
