There is nothing inherently wrong with this movie, but there just isn’t remarkable about it either. Taking a rich subject matter and hinting at a film that could’ve been but was cut short in an ending meant to provoke the audience, “Pilgrimage” has all of the parts of a strong, engaging film. It just never learns how best to fit those pieces together.
