Sure, It Chapter Two runs nearly three hours long (a full half-hour longer than its predecessor), but unless you suffer from sciatica or, God help you, coulrophobia, it’s a helluva ride and a fitting capstone (headstone?) to the best cinematic Stephen King adaptation in recent memory. As Krusty might say, “Hey heeeey! Free balloons for everyone!”

Despite some misplaced comedy, a few questionable creative decisions, and tonal inconsistencies, “It: Chapter Two” brings it all home with a remarkable third act that provides one of the most relatable, moving, and emotionally satisfying conclusions.

This 2-hour-49-minute movie drags more than it jumps, wearing out its premise and possibly also your patience as it lumbers toward the final showdown. Along the way there is some fun — some scares, some warm feelings, some inventive ickiness — to be found.
